AI Awakens
With the rapid advancement of technology, humans may soon have an abundance of free time. However, with this newfound luxury comes a crucial question:
What will we do with it? Will we be caught in a loop of endless entertainment, constantly engaging ourselves, or will we grasp the chance to delve deep into the mysterious depths of our inner selves? Will we settle for a shallow existence of endless distractions, or will we dare to take a journey into the unfathomable territories beyond our thoughts and unlock the true purpose of our being? The decision is ours to make, and it is a pivotal one that will shape the trajectory of our lives in this digital age.
Before computers and the internet became widespread, the spiritual teacher Jiddu Krishnamurti foresaw a time when highly intelligent computers would think faster and more accurately, even instructing robots. These technologies have the potential to revolutionize education, industry, and various aspects of daily life. As a result, humans will be presented with an unprecedented amount of free time.
Krishnamurti believed computers could learn and invent, making human labour almost unnecessary. He warned people might not like this reality, but it was coming anyway. He questioned what humans would become when machines took over our roles.
As computers become more like our brains, capable of learning and responding quickly, Krishnamurti asked what would be left for humans. He questioned the implications of these developments for the human mind and our future.
As Krishnamurti highlighted, we can take two main paths in using this newfound leisure. The first path is to indulge in various forms of entertainment, such as movies, games, and religious activities, seeking constant mental stimulation and distractions that may leave us disconnected from our deeper selves.
On the other hand, the second path involves turning inward and engaging in deep self-reflection and psychological exploration. This choice requires discipline and curiosity, prompting us to question our beliefs, patterns, and the very nature of our existence. By delving into our psyche, we can uncover a vast, uncharted territory beyond the limitations of thought.
As we stand on the precipice of a new era, our decision will shape our future as individuals and as a society. Will we let the external world consume us, or will we seize the opportunity to explore the depths of our consciousness?
